Our Goal

Our goal is for Hempfield to be a school where all kids have the equal opportunity to participate and excel in athletics. The best way to do this is by ensuring that sports are separated by biological sex, not gender identity. This creates a fair playing field for all.

• Boys have a biological advantage over girls. They have larger hearts and lungs, denser bones, greater muscle mass, and all the benefits of high testosterone. 

• For years we have separated sports based on biological sex because we know that this is the only way to ensure that women have the same access to athletic opportunities as men.  

• If we force girls to compete with boys, on their teams or against them, we will lose decades of hard won opportunities for girls. 

• Everyone should be treated respectfully as they compete on the team of their biological sex - no matter what their gender identity is.
